Aerospace Leader Achieves Secure Collaboration & CMMC Compliance with eSHARE

Challenge

A leading aerospace and defense company in the Defense Industrial Base needed a secure, compliant collaboration framework within Microsoft 365 Government Community Cloud High (GCCH) to meet Department of Defense CMMC obligations, including strict control over Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). Engineers were unable to email large files to their extensive supplier network due to technical and regulatory constraints, falling back on homegrown workarounds or physical media that slowed the delivery of goods. Validating user access against Export Control and ITAR requirements was a manual, error-prone process with no active controls, and a single-tenant M365 GCCH architecture serving both US and non-US personnel created risk of unintentional data sharing. The company was also migrating from a legacy, non-compliant environment and needed to preserve data integrity and access controls throughout.

Solution

eSHARE enabled fast, secure external collaboration with suppliers while keeping data inside the company's compliant GCCH tenant, and built an attribute-based governance module that actively enforces nationality, residency, and licensing requirements for regulated data — replacing the manual validation process. An Advanced Collaboration Governance solution continuously monitors for oversharing risk introduced by the single-tenant architecture. eSHARE also provided advisory services guiding the replacement of multiple point solutions with a Microsoft-first, Zero Trust architecture, plus MSSP services managing both the eSHARE platform and Microsoft Purview.
