Breaking Down the Walls of Teams Chat

We all know that feeling.

You're in the middle of a great conversation. Ideas are flowing, momentum is building, and you're about to close the loop on something important. Then you try to share a file and... blocked.

What should have taken three seconds now requires context switching to another tool, another process, another workflow entirely. Multiply that across thousands of employees, multiple times a day, and the impact compounds quickly. Not just in frustration, but in lost productivity that silently erodes how work gets done.

Perhaps the biggest culprit is trying to share a Microsoft 365 link with someone outside your organization. For most enterprises, it's simply not allowed. The workaround? Jump through hoops, switch to email, and send the file as an attachment that immediately leaves your control forever.

For more than a decade, this friction has fueled our passion at eSHARE to enable people to share securely in their flow of work. We started with SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive. We tackled email attachments. In each case, we focused on the same principle: meet people where they're already working so the right thing becomes the easy thing. It's this principle that sits at the heart of our Trusted Collaboration Fabric.

Now we're extending that Fabric to Teams chat:  🔗️ Learn more here.

Today, I'm excited to announce that eSHARE Trusted Sharing for Teams Chats is now available in private preview. The moment you paste a native M365 link in a chat that includes an external user, eSHARE automatically creates a Trusted Share and provides a secure link to all participants. The file never leaves your tenant. Your governance policies stay enforced. And the user never has to leave their flow of work.

Want to experience it for yourself? Reach out to me directly on LinkedIn. I'd be happy to get you started!

Without vs. With eSHARE Trusted Sharing
Scenario Without Trusted Sharing With eSHARE Trusted Sharing
Flow of work Context switching to email/attachments when externals join a chat. Stays in Teams — secure links are posted in the chat automatically.
External access Native M365 links often don’t work for externals due to tenant policy. Assured access via Trusted Share with policy‑based links.
Data location Copies/attachments outside M365 increase sprawl. Files remain in your Microsoft 365 tenant.
Governance & audit Limited control once files leave email or third‑party tools. Policies enforced; end‑to‑end observability for compliance.
eSHARE Trusted Sharing keeps collaboration inside Teams, reducing friction and eliminating data leakage paths.
